Had a great time!
We had a fabulous trip! The owners were so accessible, the place was sparkling clean, and our kids are ready to abandon their suburban living and move to (this house in) the mountains! Thanks for a great stay!
Such a beautiful, comfortable, breath of fresh air! We treasured every minute and wished we could stay much longer than we did. Thank Janet for providing this cozy, lovely opportunity out in nature. ❤️
We stayed at Janet's cabin for my 30th birthday and the cabin was so clean, cute, and comfortable!! The view is AMAZING. You can see all the mountains, downtown, and wildlife right from the front porch. The cabin is a few minute drive to downtown and the lake. Only a few more minutes to Rocky Mountain national park, which we visited and had a great time. I highly recommend staying here for any of your trips in Estes! Thank you Janet!
Great cabin!
Nice views & private, but not too far from restaurants, grocery, gas, etc. Close to the Rocky Mountain National Park where we spent most of our time. Beautiful & we're glad that we beat the crowds even though the highest roads didn't open until Memorial Day. Needed the 4WD as we were there for the biggest snow storm in more than a year at the end of our trip.
This cabin is way better than the photos! My husband and myself spent a long weekend away in Estes Park. The cabin was immaculate when we arrived, everything important is communicated very well by the owners. The directions getting there were well written, we were able to find it even though it’s down a bit of a twisted dirt road. The gate for RMNP is super close, with direct access to the park without having to drive through the town traffic. The cabin has a great deck with fantastic views, we really didn’t want to leave those views. Oh and the night sky from the deck is incredible and totally worth the trip from DC to Colorado. The inside of the cabin is very comfortable and clean. We can be pretty picky about places but this cabin was outstanding in a sweet vintage mountain way. It wasn’t difficult to follow the very reasonable and well communicated directions from the owner, really just common sense stuff. We also didn’t have any trash issues but it was just the two of us. This cabin is the perfect size for two couples, a small family or small friends trip. There are only two bedrooms with two queen beds in each. The top floor bedroom didn’t appear to have a bathroom but there is a full bath off the kitchen they could come downstairs to use. The main floor master had two comfortable queen beds and a very nice master bathroom. There’s also a small laundry room off the master which was convenient for us. There’s no ac in the cabin and we were there during a heat wave, we were totally comfortable with the windows open. We had a really really amazing trip and would definitely come back to this cabin. The only bad part was having to leave.
Beautiful cabin with all the amenities. Spectacular views minutes from downtown.
Very nice cottage that fit our needs very well. 6 of us really enjoyed ourselves. Even had mule deer outside the last night and the next morning. Close to Estes but still secluded.
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Our only negative comment would be to the number of rules that are asked of guests and the screen door was way to heavy and hard to use. I understand that you must ask a little of your guests but to put a 1.5 bag of trash limit based on number of days as well as some other things was a little excessive. Especially because this was not clearly stated in the rental listing online. Also, the road to the house was not an easy one and that was also not clearly stated. If we had been looking for the house in the dark it would have been extremely frustrating. It was also frustrating that there was a large jacuzzi tub but the hot water heater did not accommodate filling it up in order to use it. That was also disheartening. Other than that it was a wonderful cabin.
This cabin is a wonderful place to stay! We had 6 people that stayed and we had plenty of room. Very clean and has everything you need.
This cottage had everything we needed, including spectacular mountain views. Only a short drive to both the park and downtown, and there is a small grocery store just at the bottom of the hill. Comfortable beds, a cozy loft, fully-equipped kitchen and grill on the deck. We had a wonderful time using this as our base while exploring in the mountains. The owners are very nice and responsive to any questions. Highly recommended!!
I think the thing I was most impressed with staying at Pine Cone Cottage was the view and the serenity that surrounded us. There is no comparison between staying at Pinecone Cottage and staying in the hubbub of downtown Estes Park. Never again would I want to stay any place but Pinecone Cottage. The accommodations were great for us. We had two grandchildren who we're happy to have their own area upstairs to get away from us grown ups and have their own space. Us grown-ups were thankful for that as well 😁. We ate the majority of our meals at this beautiful Cottage. A full kitchen with a dishwasher and laundry facilities were such a plus. The only thing I wish we would have had access to were a few more towels. When you have three girls Under One Roof and each one needs a towel for their hair and their body 6 towels for four people is not enough. There may have been extra towels on site but I was not able to locate them. A lesson learned, either bring more towels myself or make sure I ask in advance for a few extra towels.
My family of 5 stayed in this cozy cottage and loved it! The first night we arrived we saw a deer standing on a rock right behind the house and the next day we saw a young buck eating on the side of the driveway! I like the rustic feeling of the cottage, while having all of the modern amenities that we are used to. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well with plenty of room for everyone. We didn't use the kitchen much except to store a few items in the fridge, but the kitchen was stocked with anything anyone would need to cook and serve a meal if you choose. We really enjoyed all of the extras the owners thought of to make our stay feel like home. The cottage was very well taken care of and clean and you can tell that the owners take great pride in this home! The rustic cabin theme could be seen throughout the home, from the furniture to the style of dishes. This cottage was a great place to stay and truly feel like we got to experience a mountain vacation in this wonderful home!
Pinecone Cottage is the perfect mix between rustic and contemporary, and is nicely situated between fun shopping in the city and adventures in the national park. We enjoyed the updated kitchen and deck with awesome panoramic mountain views.
Owners made it very easy to book this very charming cottage. We had everything that we needed and enjoyed our stay.
Rustic, but very comfortably equipped and very clean, this cabin is a great location--a couple of minutes away from town and about a mile to the National Park entrance. The views from the deck are spectacular; we spent many late afternoons and evenings just watching the sun over the mountains. Great hiking nearby and convenient to all amenities, but you can enjoy the solitude and neighboring wildlife. An elk turned up almost every day and a pack of coyotes one night.
Had a wonderful stay. Our 4 yr old wanted to stay forever.
My family & I stayed at Pinecone Cottage in Estes Park, CO. This immaculate, isolated, & fully furnished cabin met all of our expectations & needs. We would like to stay there again. Janet, cabin owner & manager, was kind, hospitable, helpful, cooperative, & honest.
Estes Park & RMNP had majestic & beautiful landscapes & animals along w/ nice, cool weather.
This was perfect for our vacation! Great cabin with everything we needed. Great views and great location for everything we wanted to do. We saw elk and deer on the property several times in the week we were there. Kids loved exploring the property too-very different from home! RMNP was spectacular, hiked everyday. Was great to come back to the Pinecone Cottage to rest each night. Thank you!!
My wife and I came from Albuquerque, New Mexico to spend the thanksgiving weekend. We had a wonderful stay in PineCone Cottage with picturesque settings. We arrive late after dark and could not see the outside views. We woke up the next day and saw a herd of elk walking and standing outside the driveway carelessly. Views in the morning were spectacular. We were pleased to see very nice setting inside the cottage. Everything was put together in a nice and thoughtful arrangements. It was indeed a nice and warm cozy feelings in the cottage. At the end, thank you and happy thanksgiving.
We felt we were in a story book cabin. Evergreens and Pineones everywhere. A hint of christmas was in the air, no matter what season.
We stayed here for 3 days for a wedding, and it was close to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). We hiked, saw many animals, and had a wonderful time with the family and friends.
Beautiful views, fresh air, and the perfect getaway !!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Pinecone Cottage. Once we arrived, we didn't want to leave! The views are amazing, and the cottage is equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It is close to RMNP and to restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay at Pine Cone cottage. The proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) and downtown Estes Park can't be beat. The cottage itself was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. We saw several deer, rabbits and many birds around the cottage; a neighbour told us that a bear has been seen nearby. We highly recommend staying at Pinecone cottage.
My friends and I had a wonderful time at Pine Cone Cottage. The cottage is located on a hill/mountain side on approximately 2 acres of rustic land. If you are looking for solitude, this is the place. The views, lack of street noise, beautiful sunsets and glorious stars at night were just what these city gals needed. The cabin is close to RMNP and downtown, it is well stocked and very quaint. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again if/when we return to Estes Park.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Your cabin as as beautiful as the nature around it. Sunsets and waking up to these mountains has been very enjoyable. Up here I noticed when you sit still nature opens up to you, and once open she just starts showing off. Thanks again and hope to come back.
Beautiful Location and Views. The "extras" were a wonderful surprise (water, discount card, and toiletries). The cabin is charming and comfortable. We made friends with an injured elk who visited us everyday.
Thanks
Beautiful View and Wonderful Cabin, So Peaceful. We saw 2 fox passing through one morning. One morning while eating supper our 3rd night, a brown bear, yes you read that right, about 20 yards from the deck walked through the yard, went across the road and up the hill. He then ventured onto a deck and was playing with the feeder on the deck. It was awesome !!
Thanks so much for all the information you left for us visitors. The Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) card was great. We used it often !! Thanks so much for a relaxing vacation !, Love the Cabin.
We love your cabin and all the pine-cones ! The view is spectacular and the accommodations are awesome. You thought of everything. The rocky card was a nice touch and the tips to some of your favorites. Fawn Brook Inn--what a lovely little hidden gem. Came home on our last evening here to a deer munching away in the front ...talk about a photo opp! Thank you for everything
We spent one week in that property and it was perfect for our family of 5. The house as a lot of charm and a very nice view of the Estes Park valley with the Stanley Hotel in the far view. The house is very well located, only a few minutes from RMNP main entrance. We would recommend the property to any family or friends.
Amazing place! Super clean, great mountain view and kid friendly! We had an amazing time here in Estes Park and it makes it even better to go back in the evening to a place that is clean, safe, and comfortable! Great price as well! I also appreciate the quick response of the owners with questions.
This beautiful, spacioius cabin is replete with all the amenities one could wish for, including a great hut-tub. It has easy access to Estes downtown and to Rocky Mountain National Park. Gorgeous views over the valley were enhanced by herds of elk passing by the patio. Communication with the owner was great and Janet was incredibly helpful. This is an incredible place for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. I will definitely be back!
What a gorgeous cottage! - clean, spacious, charming, beautifully maintained. Truly a welcoming retreat with mountain charm and all the comforts one could want. Loved the close access to Estes Park and RMNP, but at the same time it felt as though we were far away from the rest of the world. Great for a couple, a family, or a group of friends wanting a getaway. The pictures certainly don't do justice to the beauty and charm of this cottage. Janet was easy to contact and made sure we were welcomed and comfortable. Definitely would recommend to others and hope to be back!
This is a great cabin with everything you need. The Ali family is helpful and accommodating.
We hiked Cub lake, Emerald Lake, and Calypso cascades, all possible for flat landers such as ourselves. Rented a UTV and drove in the mountain near Drake. It rained while we were on our ride but we loved the 4 wheeling in the mud. We went white water rafting out of Fort Collins and it was a ton of fun. We have created some wonderful memories here and hope to return again very soon

I had an amazing time in Colorado, and I cant wait to visit again
We saw a total of 10 different wildlife when we were hoking around Emerald Lake. I noticed an Elk, it ended up coming up on the trail and it was hilarious seeing people reacting to it. Thank you for letting us stay at the cabin. When it was cold, the cabin kept us warm and cozy. Also it was nice that you come up to help fix anything we need.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The views were wonderful. We sat on the deck and watched both sunrises and sunsets. Watching the deer graze in the front yard was also nice. It was conveniently located to many hiking trials. I look forward to staying here again.
Our stay at Pinecone Cottage was wonderful. Pinecone Cottage helps to take all of your troubles away with its spacious clean rooms and wonderful mountain views! The setting creates panoramic vistas of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National park. Best of all Rocky Mountain National park is just minutes away. Imtiaz and Janet, the owners, recommended the hike from Bear Lake to the three higher lakes and that should not be missed, other than the wonderful accommodations, the Bear Lake hike was the highlight of our trip. The cottage itself was a dream and the owners provided coffee, hot chocolate, spices, sugar and more. There were also plenty of towels and a dishwasher!! We had no need to eat out with all of the pots, pans and dishes available. An in-house washer and dryer added to the ease of the stay. The beds are very comfy, and my kids appreciated all of the cable stations and the wireless internet!! Our family of five definitely recommends Pinecone cottage. We will stay here anytime we are in the area.
What a blessing this cabin has been for us. God has shown us remarkable beauty every day and night during our stay. When we booked this cabin it was based on the on the beautiful reviews, deck, coziness, and privacy. We were glad that we were led Pine Cone Cottage and give thanks to God and the owners for sharing such awesome accommodations
Thank you so much for the beautiful gift to our family. Coming here was just what we needed to help us in our healing journey.
Pinecone Cottage, after only 2 visits, feels like our Estes Park home. Great cabin with an excellent view from front porch. Location could not be better: very close to shops, restaurants and grocery store. And just a couple of miles to Rocky Mountain National Park. If you rent Pinecone, please take good care of it because my wife and I will be back.
What a beautiful location. We had an amazing time at the cabin, and in RMNP (Rocky Mountain National Park) as well as neighborhood places. We come to Estes Park often but this is the first time we have experienced the charms of a rustic cabin, and how wonderful it has been !! Thoroughly enjoyed the nature, views and wildlife while sipping coffee in the patio. Our only request is a larger sign at the entrance for navigation.
Great Cabin ! Fantastic views !!
Best hike - Bierstadt Lake
Thanks for having such a wonderful cabin for us to enjoy this week. We traded our corn fields for the mountains this week and loved every moment our time at pinecone cabin. Our daughter joined us which made it extra special. We loved eating and grilling many of our meals outside and drinking fresh coffee in the am while the sun rose over the mountains. Great hiking, wildlife, and adventures. Perfect location for all these activities. Thanks and hoping to come back again.
From the members of the same family who stayed there:
Thank you for opening your lovely cabin to our family this week. We enjoyed hiking, and the scenery at your home. Loved cooking and eating at your porch. We hope to return in the near future.
Pinecone cottage was perfect for the family of four. Our two boys loved climbing and exploring the outside of the cabin. We enjoyed seeing the deer, chipmunks and hummingbirds on the property. The location is ideal..easy access to the Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park Town, but still removed from the touristy part of the town. Thank you so much.
We were very pleased with Pinecone Cottage! It was secluded because it is on 1.78 acres, yet we were close to town and the national park. We felt like we had our own private place on the mountainside.
The cabin was well furnished and very clean and modern, yet it had the decor of a mountain cabin with all the pine wood. Very roomy, yet cozy.
The view from the deck was awesome.
The cabin was well maintained and had everything we needed. Janet was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, even down to the details, like soap, shampoo, trash bags, etc. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed.
After looking at the pictures online, and reading the reviews, it totally met our expectations. We would stay there again.
We enjoyed PineCone cottage. It is quaint and secluded, and the owners have the cabin well furnished so we had everything we needed.
Wonderful views of the area. We saw some deer, rabbits, chipmunks and humming birds. Great hiking in the RMNP and we enjoyed the town of Estes Park as well. Great relaxing and fun week.
We had a wonderful time staying for a week in Estes Park at Pinecone Cottage. The space was great for 2 couples. Clean, well maintained, nicely furnished. And the kitchen, dining area, and deck were great for eating in, when we chose to. The cabin is situated on the side of a hill with beautiful views of the mountains, right outside downtown Estes Park. Our first morning we woke up to an elk strolling by our cabin.
The cabin is very close to Rocky Mountain National Park - not more than a 10 minute drive. There's nothing better than a long day of hiking and coming back to a beautiful cabin and a warm shower!
The owner clearly takes great care of her home. She also provided great customer service from start to finish. When we come back to Estes Park in the future, we'll definitely stay at Pinecone Cottage again!
Pinecone cottage was a perfect place for us ! You have a beautiful mountain home with wonderful views from every window and the porch. It has been a restful and comfortable week. Love the wildlife- birds, rabbits and dear. We hope to visit Estes Park, again !!
We enjoyed 2nd stay here. It has been four years and it has been a beautiful and cozy place to stay. The highlight of our stay was while hiking we had a bighorn sheep cross our path.
I have NOTHING BUT WONDERFUL things to say about the Pinecone Cottage. Its quaint and well appointed at the same time - very clean and new. Can't beat the views - nearly 360 of the Rockies and Estes Park. Great location, easy access to everything you could want, easy to find. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!
We enjoyed this cute, cozy cabin with incredible views. The cabin was comfortable and quite roomy. The beds were great and there were plenty of TV's if you tired of hiking. We saw a huge buck one day out our bedroom window, and then the next morning a whole family of deer. The road was a bit daunting, and could definitely use some repair. If we hadn't had an SUV, it could've been tricky! The kitchen was pretty well equipped, but the dishwasher didn't clean well. Other than that, we loved it and would stay there again.
What a great retreat and location for hiking in RMNP! Property is very clean and beautifully maintained and about 2-3 miles from the best RMNP gate for hiking, especially if you are a fan of alpine lakes with great landscape photo opportunities. Gas grill works better than the $500+ unit I own....gonna look into a Sunbeam next time :). It is also meticulous, as was the rest of the house. My only recommendation would be a metal spatula for the grill. No AC needed at this elevation. Just close the master BR window and shade in the AM, prior to going out hiking for the day (sun hits it pretty hard in July), then when you return (or after 3 pm), open back it up and enjoy the wonderful breeze that comes through the house. Perfectly situated for the early riser that enjoys taking sunrise photos....got some amazing shots just from the deck! Views like this should not be permitted without a little hiking effort....yet here they are! My family and friends had a wonderful time. Everything in the house worked flawlessly...this made our stay so pleasant. I would recommend the restaurant at the bottom of the hill, The Other Side...we ate breakfast there one morning and it was great...crabcakes benedict, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and cherry pancakes were delicious. We cooked all of our other meals in the kitchen, baked chocolate chip cookies in the oven at least 3 nights (this is permissible when you hike all day :). We hiked 6 days and returned to a comfortable pad every night. The beds were very comfortable and a hot shower every night after hiking was just the ticket. I would, without reservation, recommend this property 100% to my friends and family. Thank you Ali family for providing such an awesome place to stay during our vacation. We will be back! Matt, Renee, Griffin, Uncle Scott and Aunt Aimee
Thank you for letting us use your beautiful cottage.
We had a great time hiking, viewing wildlife and exploring Estes. The kids enjoyed playing with the blocks and horses. The cuckoo clock was a big hit. We named her "cuckoo-looka"
We hope to come back in the future.
Thanks for being a great host too and responsive to all our requests through emails and texts !!
Great time ! Thanks for all your accommodations !
We hiked, saw wildflowers and had a great time.
Fantastic Cabin !!
A terrific week as the sun and summer enter the Rockies, The views spectacular, the company good, and the hiking fantastic. We've had a lovely stay in your cottage, everything worked out perfectly; lovely surroundings, cosy and clean. Kitchen and appliances very, very nice, bed comfy.
A bear, elk and deer on the property, 32 species of birds seen so far (some on your property)
Thanks for letting the old cousins get re-acquainted
We decided t try something different for the thanksgiving break and ended up here at your cottage. Although our stay was short (3 nights) we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for providing us with a little "haven" where we could get away from the world. We may be back.
This cabin is worth staying in!! Plenty of room, very up to date, with great views and room to hike! We definitely would stay again. The owners are very nice!
When I was a little girl, my sister and I played in this cabin for summer vacation; we would play house, have adventures, and shoot my Dad's BB gun at the huge rock behind the house. Today we are much older but the cabin still holds the memories, secrets and familiarities it did 12 years ago. I love being back since it sparks a tender cord with my childhood. I love what the Ali family has done to the cabin to preserve the historic parts of the cabin. We appreciate them letting us stay to reminisce about our childhood. Hopefully it wont be another 12 before we can come back and enjoy the simple pleasures of this cabin and beautiful Estes park
Thank you !!
Our friends and us spent a week in this lovely cabin. The interior exceeded my expectations. We never went out to dinner because the location was lovely and the deck had a great view. Plus you can have a couple glasses of wine without worring about driving back.
We hiked 8-10 miles every day and loved the great showers and beds at night.
I too would recommend more dishes as with four people we were doing the dishes all the time. Otherwise, everything else was well stocked and in good condition. Would definitely rent again when in the area.
We enjoyed our stay at Pinecone Cottage very much. The cabin's interior is absolutely beautiful and the views from the balcony are spectacular. The unpaved road to the cabin and some of the surrounding homes do not prepare you for the "Wow! Factor" when you enter this cabin for the first time. The tongue & groove woodwork, spacious living room, kitchen & master bedroom, as well as the perfect touch of cabin decor everywhere, make for a very comfortable & pleasant stay in Estes Park.
Our stay at the cozy and quaint Pinecone Cottage in Estes Park was definitely a time to remember for our family. It was our first time to visit Estes Park and hopefully the first of many. We arrived at our tidy, cozy cottage that was even bigger than it looked in the pictures. To our surprise, there was a small balcony upstairs where the kids could look over and see the living room, which was very exciting for them. The cottage was clean, had a beautiful view, and close enough to town that we could get there easily and quickly. We really wanted to see a bear during our stay, but he didn't come around. Maybe next time he will. We enjoyed our evenings on the balcony talking about what we had done that day. I enjoyed the chipmunk that lived right outside the kitchen window who would come out to get his food in the mornings. Everything was clean and well-maintained and it felt like home while we were there. We enjoyed our days in the town shopping, dining, sightseeing, and just walking around. We also drove the nearby Trail Ridge Road to the other side of the mountain and visited Grand lake and Grandby. We enjoyed several hikes in RMNP and took many many pictures of the beautiful scenery of Colorado. We also visited the Stanley Hotel, which was a nice change of pace after a few days of long hikes. While there, my daughter and I had heard of a bear who broke into a local chocolate store so we went to visit one morning. Lo and behold, we got on the Denver 6 o'clock news for an interview. That was definitely fun for us. We will definitely rent this cabin again when we return
The pine cone cottage is a very comfortable house, with a fantastic view of I think the Mummy mountain range, with plenty of privacy. The house is well maintained, very clean, new appliances, deer and a great deck for meals (no bugs).
It is centrally located in the heart of Estes with easy access to the park, trailheads on Rte 7 and shopping areas.
Clear nights revealed lots of stars.
It has everything you need.
You gave us what we wanted: beautiful views and two bathrooms !!
We did get to see a bob cat and a mule deer. The cabin was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We loved your decorations !! Thanks for calling us during our stay.
Thanks from the 5 Women from Missouri !!
Thank you for a lovely stay. The balcony, the plastic play horses, the monopoly, and the cable TV were all big hits, as well as the amazing view and lovely cabin.
Thank you so much !!
We enjoyed a restful and pleasant stay at the lovely retreat cottage in the Rockies ...very comfortable and clean !!. The perfect get away for us flatlanders from Ohio. Hope to return again next year.
Thanks so much !!
All details covered in this wonderful cabin in Estes Park. To start, the location is perched up on a hill close to the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park and minutes from main street as well. However, if you just want to stay put in the cabin, it is plenty private as it sits on a private drive with enough land to shield you from too close neighbors. The deck has a great view of the Rocky Mtns surrounding Estes and you can see the Stanley Hotel in the far distance. Inside is where the charm resides. All details fit this comfortable mountain cabin including furniture made of large pine wood from the sofas to the beds. The nice thing is that they are thick and sturdy. Plenty of space to gather with a good-sized living room. The nice surprise with this cabin are the amenities - microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer, Internet access, propane grill on the deck that works well, hd tv's with cable in living room, downstairs bedroom and upstairs bedroom. Home away from home. Lots of beds to handle larger families. This place is a gem. Will definitely be back!
A truly wonderful and excellent home in Estes Park. Clean, well-stocked, beautiful, quiet--utterly delightful. We should all take as good care of our homes as these owners do.
We stayed at Pinecone for 5 nights in October. It was perfect for our girl's trip! The views are spectacular and unobstructed. The cabin in is wonderful condition and nicely appointed. The beds and pillows are all comfortable and allow for a perfect night of sleep under the light of the full moon which streamed through the clerestory windows of the master bedroom. Lovely. We had four elk in the front yard the morning of my mom's 83rd birthday . . a very special treat. The owner (Janet) was very accommodating and easy to work with. I would just like to give everyone a head's up that if you are traveling with folks who have difficulty navigating stairs, the only access is up the steps you see in the photos. The master bedroom is on the main floor, however, with the 2nd bedroom upstairs. Both baths are on the main level, but require either one or three steps to access. This certainly did not pose much of a problem for us, but for those with special needs it is something to be aware of.
We will have no problem rebooking Pinecone Cottage for our next visit, and would highly recommend it to our friends! Thank you, Janet, for sharing your wonderful little slice of mountain heaven!
My brother and I just spent a week at Pinecone Cottage and loved every minute of it! This mountain home overflows with character and charm. Its rustic, yet has all the comforts and updated amenities you could want or need. You get a real sense of privacy and yet, it is only five minutes to either downtown Estes Park or Rocky Mountain National Park. This cottage, with its pine walls, logpole furniture and many windows not to mention the ample sized balcony with million dollar views, together make for the perfect Colorado vacation experience. We watched herds of elk wonder through the property as well as an occasional deer. And at night, we would watch the most amazing sunsets while listening to John Denver on my portable CD player and hearing the elks bugling in the distance. The owners of this mountain retreat are friendly and accomodating. We hope to return in the future. Until then, we have the most wonderful memories of our weeks stay at the Pinecone Cottage.
From the moment I walked in the door I was impressed with this cabin. Meticulously maintained, clean, & updated, this is the perfect getaway. Having stayed in Estes numerous times, I especially enjoyed the location off Mary's Lake Rd. Very quiet, away from the hustle & bustle of town, but close enough to make an easy drive either into the park or into town. Janet was always very prompt at answering emails. The cabin looks even better in person than the pictures. Plenty of room to stretch out. The master suite is HUGE! The upstairs bedroom is a good size also. Living room & family room areas are spacious & the vaulted ceilings in the master & living areas give the rooms an even larger feel. The only suggestion I would have would be to increase the amount of dishes/cookwear, etc. in the kitchen. I LOVED the matching plates, bowls & mugs, but could have used more of them, as we were constantly washing dishes. Also could have used some pyrex rectangular baking dishes, but otherwise fabulous stay. I would definitely recommend this property & would love to stay again.
We have stayed in many, many houses in Estes over the years. We usually stay at WIndcliff or that area but, for part of our stay this year, we decided to try this cabin nearer Mary's Lake for a change and because it seemed like a good value. Location is very convenient and panoramic views are beautiful. The owners are kind and very conscientious. We had a few, minor issues while we were there (roof leaks, cable service) and owners responded & had repaired immediately. The kitchen and bathrooms appeared sparkling clean. The home is more spacious than it seems in pictures.
There were a few things I wish I had known before reserving for an extended stay:
Little ventilation: Most of the windows do not open and front door screen was missing, so lack of good ventilation was a disappointment.
Dusty: Some dust is to be expected, of course, but I spent the better part of a day cleaning loads of dust. I had to clean all the fans before using them because they were caked with dust, and we had to use them because it was so warm.
Traffic noise: Convenient location but you can easily hear traffic from major road.
High, uncovered windows in master allow light to flood through super early in the morning, which isn't a problem if you like to rise at or before five.
No smoke alarms were installed so we bought our own.
Overall, cabin is cute and convenient.
We loved our week spent in your cabin! The views were amazing. It is the perfect spot - convenient to Estes Park, but removed from the busyness of the town. The cabin was just right for our family of four, our kids enjoying the privacy of their own loft.
The cabin is located about 5 minutes to RMNP and also Estes Park. It sits on a hill with great views. It is a bright and sunny property that has just about everything you need including paper products, hair dryer, shampoo, hot chocolate, coffee/filters, good selection of pots and cooking utensils, washer/dryer and wi-fi. The owner is considerate of having items in the cabin to make things comfortable. Some restaurants that the owner recommended (The Other Side/Lakeside, Mary's Lake Lodge and Fawn Brook Inn were all very good - Fawn Brook should not be missed!) There is a good grocery store 2 minutes away (The Country Store) which also rents dvd's. Great wine store next to it. A huge Safeway is just 6 minutes away 'in town.' Don't forget to bring a collapsible cooler with you - it was nice to have for our picnic lunches, beverages and snacks before and after hiking. You will find several freezer packs for your cooler that are there for your use (very helpful). Although this cabin was too large for just the two of us, it would make for a great family home or reunion of old friends. My only suggestion is that blinds be placed on the windows in the sunroom and dining area. It would really help to keep the cabin cooler since windows face west. All in all, I would recommend this property to familiy and friends. I commend the owner for being very considerate of our needs during our stay. It was a lovely trip and great way to spend my birthday week!
We love this place so much we came back!! This was our second visit to Pine Cone Cottage and we were just as pleased as the first time. We had a roaring fire every morning. Saw elk, deer, and even a bob cat in the front yard!! We feel so at home here. The cottage is always so clean and comfortable. We would HIGHLY recomend this cottage to anyone who wants to relax, have fun, and just truly enjoy Estes Park for all its wonderful glory. We WILL be back again!!
The cottage was clean and in a good location. It is only a few minutes from RMNP and downtown Estes Park. However, one thing the description does not mention is that two queen sized beds are upstairs in a very small loft. My son could not stay up there because he literally hit his head on the ceiling. The other problem with the loft is that you have to travel down a long, steep flight of stairs in the dark if you want to go to the bathroom during the night. If you are a family with children, this place will work fine. We had three generations of adults and the nightly bathroom visits were a bit of an adventure for those staying in the loft. Also, if you have very tall family members, they will not be comfortable in the loft. Other than that, it was a great place to stay. There is plenty of room for 5 adults to relax, eat, and visit.q
This was a very enjoyable cabin with a great view of Estes Park. It was perfect for our family and was even better than we had expected it to be. Like other reviews said, pictures don't do it justice.
This cottage is so darling and we could not have had a better time vacationing here. We woke up to deer and elk in the lawn, drank our coffee out on the deck while taking in all the amazing views of Estes Park and we ended our buzy days relaxing in the cottage. We would stay here again with out a doubt. We LOVED this cottage, and LOVE Estes Park, Colorado.
Thank you so much for sharing your cottage with our family.
From the moment we unlocked the door, we all knew this was going to be a great place to stay. Pinecone Cottage is spacious, private, comfortable, offers wonderful views, wildlife outside your door and can still offer easy access to town and the national park. The deck is a delight and perfect for morning coffee or cooking on the grill. The kitchen was well equipped and we loved an evening meal in the dining room after a full day enjoying Colorado. We have already told several friends about the cottage and highly recommend it to others. We hope to return on another visit.
Our stay in Pinecone Cottage was a perfect retreat for our first visit to Estes Park. We found so much to do and see in the area and the cottage was a perfect place to relax at the end of the day. Then, every morning we fixed breakfast and ate looking out at the perfect view of the mountains. The cottage was even better than the pictures showed. We had such a great time, and the schedule fortunately allowed, we were able to extend our vacation and stayed an extra day. We recommend Pinecone Cottage to anyone needing a get away to the wilderness, yet still wanting all the comforts of home. We are excited for our next trip as we feel we can create even more memories in Estes Park and specifically at the Pinecone Cottage. Thank you for a perfect vacation! See you next time!
Pinecone Cottage is a fantastic place to stay while visiting Estes Park and RMNP. The accomodations were perfect for us (four adults). We loved watching the rising sun paint the mountains as we ate our breakfast in the dining room. We will definitely stay here again.
We just returned from our visit to Estes Park and our stay at the cottage. It was absolutely wonderful! We have stayed in various places in Estes and this is, by far, our favorite. The location was great...close to the park and downtown. The views are just fabulous! We travel with another couple and it was very comfortable for us all. The beds are great, it's sunny and bright, showers are hot, and we had both elk and deer right outside the front door (we could listen to the bugling at night). Sitting at the dining room table looking directly across to the Stanley Hotel was just such fun. Janet was so nice to work with and provided great hiking and restaurant recommendations. We will definitely be back. You will not be disappointed with this cottage!
Bright, airy, and very cozy cottage. We loved the dining area with the large dining table. It was so relaxing to sit and enjoy dinner and the wonderful views of the mountains surrounding Estes Park. Beds are very comfortable; the living room is a great place to watch TV, talk, and read. Tastefully decorated, plenty of wildlife to see around the cottage. One highlight for us was a coyote’s mournful howling at dusk and all the responding howls that followed. Great location – far enough away to feel surrounded by wildlife, close enough to the town and some very good restaurants and very convenient. The WiFi was much appreciated. We had a great stay. Highly recommended!
This rental property is beautiful and immaculately kept! We really enjoyed our stay. Every bit of this place is lovely,...with comfortable beds and family room, a great kitchen, and nicely stocked bathrooms...just what we wanted after a long day of hiking and exploring the park. Great location just two minutes from the park entrance,...and away from the tourist madness of downtown...very secluded. The view is a beauty, and the hiking recommendations that Janet sent us in advance were incredible. Glacier Gorge is a must-do! Thank you for a memorable first visit to Rocky Mountain National Park!
This place is awesome, like a home away from home. We will be back next year, I highly recommend this cabin, you will not be disappointed with it or the view.
We just got back from our wonderful vacation to
Estes Park and RMNP and the trip was made
complete by the awesome accommodations at
Pinecone Cottage! The cottage is in a great location
to both Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain National
Park. Our family of six had more than enough room
to spread out and relax after long days of hiking.
Great house, great location, great time!
We never tired of the spectacular views of the mountains surrounding this wonderful cottage. Plenty of room; nicely furnished, clean and cozy. We would definitely recommend this house. Try it, you'll like it.

This cabin is one of a kind! The views are amazing and being able to lay in bed and watch the sun rise hits the spot! Me and my husband spent most days in RMNP hiking and then coming home after dinner to sit on the porch and see all the amazing stars! The wildlife was fantastic. We saw deer, rabbits and even a coyote up close and personal. It was an experience we will never forget and will be sure to look up this cabin for our next stay!
If you are looking for quiet, space, privacy, and a retreat from the world in general, this cabin is perfect. We had a fantastic time. The cottage is so secluded that no tourist will find it by accident, but it is still just 10 minutes from anything in Estes Park. Very nice amenities. The mountain views are incredible. All website pictures are accurate representations of the cabin and its surroundings.
The cottage is ideal for 1-2 couples or a small family. Highly recommended and would definitely stay there again.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Pinecone Cottage during our recent visit to RMNP. Although it was close to Estes Park, the location was far enough away to give us space from the crowds. We really enjoyed seeing the daily parade of animals (deer, cottontail rabbits, coyotes, etc). This was a great base for our hikes in the park and other sightseeing adventures nearby. The home was immaculate and well equipped. We will stay here again when we return to Estes.
One of the highlights of our vacation was staying at the Pinecone Cottage. Your cabin is nicely decorated, spacious, functional and well equipped. The location was also ideal and the scenery beautiful. I would highly recommend this to others.
Just returned from a 1 week stay at Pinecone Cottage. This cottage is immaculate, very comfortable, well equipted and quiet. But the most outstanding feature is the VIEW! Always had meals on the deck to soak in the beauty in every direction. As soon as we arrived, a buck and doe stopped by for 2 hours to check us out. Elk grazed in front of cottage & a fawn peeked in thru bathroom window when Bob was showering. Only 3 miles from park entrance-very convenient. I rode Hiker's Shuttle from Beaver Meadows on days Bob went golfing. We have rented on VRBO many times and this is one of the tops! We hope future renters enjoy and appreciate Pinecone Cottage as much as we die. Carol and Bob Vissers
Each morning during our stay at Pinecone Cottage, I would walk onto the front deck for coffee, and each time I would still be amazed at the view of the mountains--so unbelievably beautiful, it was almost surreal! The cottage itself is great, was well-stocked, and has lots of nice touches. It makes a wonderful place to relax and an ideal "base camp" to launch off into the absolutely gorgeous Rockies. We have taken many nice vacations, but his was our family's favorite. We definitely want to return to this beautiful area, and when we do, we would sure like to stay at Pinecone Cottage. Highly recommended.
We had a great time at Pinecone Cottage! After long days of hiking at RMNP, it was wonderful to come back to such a quiet and comfortable place. The cottage was well equipped for all of our needs. Pinecone had breathtaking views from all windows, a relaxing jacuzzi tub, and comfortable beds. We would certainly return to the cottage for future visits!
We just got back from a great vacation at Pinecone Cottage in Estes Park. The cabin was a wonderful place to come back to after long days of hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We even saw some coyotes, a bobcat, and several deer in the yard! We'd definitely stay here again if we ever get back to Colorado!
Pinecone Cottage was such a tranquil, cozy place to relax and kick back after hiking and playing out in the frigid temps! The views of the Rockies are beautiful. Our hosts were very communicative and thoughtful. Special touches like complimentary snacks were very much appreciated. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Estes is just a few minutes drive away and so is the entrance to RMNP. We cannot wait to come back!
