Imagine traveling over 1000 miles through all kinds of flatland terrain and finding this amazing rocky mountain cabin waiting for us. The pictures do not do this little gem justice. It is tucked back into the fragrant pines with the soothing sound of the Big Thompson. We spent every extra minute enjoying these amenities on our deck. Although we like to try new eateries, we spent the cool, starry nights grilling & cooking in. Estes Park can keep you very busy hiking, fishing and just exploring. It was so nice to return to this cozy ( and clean) cabin. We extended our stay and only wished we could have had 2 more days. We hope to return to the Seashell Cabin next year!
The cabin was great. Great location. It was very clean and neat. We loved sitting out on the deck each morning and evening and had a great time doing lots of different things in the area. Thanks for helping us have a nice weekend away, Janet!
The cabin was clean and neat and had everything we needed for our stay. We appreciated the bottled water in the fridge as I constantly have my water with me. The bed was comfortable and it was pleasant to sit outside and have dinner on the porch. I would recommend this cabin to family and friends to enjoy staying near the park. Thank you for your hospitality.
What wonderful cabin to come back to after a busy day in Estes Park! We enjoyed the sounds of the river from the deck every night! The cabin was more than enough room for our family and had everything we need to make it feel like home for a few days!! Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin and breathtaking scenery with us!! We hope to stay here again during future trips to Estes!!
Our stay at this charming cabin was relaxing and the perfect home base to rest up for many great adventures in the Rocky Mountains.
This is a great cabin for a small family or couple to stay in. Everything in the cabin has a homey feel to it. The Sappo Hill soap was a nice touch and thoroughly enjoyed especially after hiking. The deck is a great place to unwind and enjoy a meal, especially if it’s a Grandmas Pie pizza from Antonio’s. The owners sure seem to go out of their way to ensure your stay is great and we greatly appreciate that! Thanks Janet we had an incredible time and look forward to returning.
This cabin is only a couple miles from estes Park and made our 6-night trip there amazing. Wonderful place to stay!
Great place! Close to shopping, RMNP, and other attractions including the quaint town of Estes Park.
The cabin was perfect for our family of three. We would return to the cabin after spending the days hiking, white water rafting, shopping, and sightseeing. My husband and I would sit on the porch and watch our 15 year old son fly fish until it was dark. The cabin was tranquil and relaxing. Driving to RMNP or town was easy and quick.
This cabin was perfect. It was just outside of town, but far enough away to stay away from the town life. The sound of the river flowing was very soothing in the mornings with a cup of coffee on the deck. It also came furnished with just about everything a person could ask for. The owners are very responsive to all and any concerns and /or questions that you may have.
We loved our stay at the little red cabin. The setting in the woods on the river was simply beautiful. Sitting on the deck with the rushing river sooo close was so peaceful. LOVED the reclining patio chairs. The decor was charming and the cabin had everything we needed. Especially loved the claw foot bath tub and TV’s in three rooms.
Secluded but just minutes from shopping and dining. Cannot wait to go back. Owners very responsive!
We relaxed on the huge deck while drinking some wine and enjoying the breathtaking views of the Big Thompson river and heard the roar of the water flowing down the canyon. It was a relaxing and off the grid stay disconnected from computers and cell phones. Thank you for the added little amenities. The location was perfect and just a short distance from the entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park and the town of Estes Park which has some wonderful restaurants and gift shops. Our time was short but so enjoyable.
The cabin was great for our trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was close enough to everything but out of the bustle of the tourist crowd. We enjoyed our setting on the river and the quaint touches of the cabin.
Janet was very responsive and made sure our stay went smoothly.
Not for the truck and RV crowd, this older cabin is nestled carefully among older cabins evoking a time when birdsong and river rumbling was the only noise of the day. Small but easily negotiated, kitchen, bath, and beds were all perfect. The deck is delightful as you watch your son catch a half-dozen trout while you cook on the grill. Less than two miles north of Estes, so perfect setting for restaurants & Rocky Mountain National Park. Would love to return!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the SeaShell River cabin. It was perfect for our Annivesary get away and close to everything in Estes Park & RMNP!!! We loved the snack basket and all of the hospitality we enjoyed while staying there. We also were able to meet your neighbors next door who were very nice. The whole experience was wonderful! My favorite part was listening to the river outside in the morning and evening! We hope to be back to visit soon!!!
Wow what a few days. Cabin was great and the area is just wonderful. We had our grandchildren with us and they enjoyed every minute.
We enjoyed many hiking outings in the rocky mountain. So nice to be close to so much fun. Loved listening to the river while relaxing on the deck and grilling.
What a lovely cabin home you have ! Such a peaceful and clean place besides the rolling river. Peaceful in the morning and evening hours. A great location to the beautiful mountains that we enjoyed. I loved being able to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in such a beautiful location. Estes park has changed so much since our honeymoon. Our son loved the hiking, go carts and especially the ATVs. What a blast. Your sea side style made us feel at home- even down to your "sea minerals" soap which we use at our home.
We spent our second summer vacation in a row here at Seashell cabin. It remains our favorite spot in Colorado. Long ago we came and stayed in a cabin rental on some flat land and it was nice, but nothing can compare to staying along the rushing Big Thompson river!! In the past we drove from our cabin 45 minutes to try to see the big horned sheep in the Big Thomson Canyon, but here at Seashell cabin we are immersed in the experience from the minute we step out the front door we are living the culture of the Rocky Mountains. Even inside the cabin just open up the oversized screened windows and hear the rush of the river thundering down the canyon.
When I traveled to Europe I was warned to experience the culture not just touch on the monuments. I managed to to that in Europe. If you want to live "Colorado" Seashell cottage will help you to do it.
You don't need to run yourself silly either, Janet and Imtiaz (the proprietors) have the cabin stocked with essentials to fill you needs. The barbeque on the large deck overlooking the river allows you to grill up dinner and enjoy it in the outdoors rather than hop in a car and go sit in a restaurant.
I wholeheartedly recommend Seashell cabin for your next trip to the rockies.
This was a very charming little cabin and we enjoyed our stay very much. The theme of the cabin carried out throughout was so much fun. All of the accommodations were so nicely arranged and easy to use. I could not think of a nicer place to stay at Estes Park
We loved sharing the experience of your "home away from home" cabin and the area especially the Rocky Mountain National Park. Thank you so much for the wonderful suggestions. We tried everything, the multiple hikes, the tasty restaurants, and the fun shopping. Thank you too for having the extra special goodies in the cabin ..including the pancake syrup.
We enjoyed our stay at your cabin and our visit to Estes Park. Sitting on the balcony/deck was my favorite part of the staying here. My husband was fishing in the river. The mountains are beautiful. The birds and chipmunk were fun to watch.
Love this cabin! Location was perfect. It sits right next to the river. We spent a lot of mornings and evenings sitting outside the patio just listening to the river. It is also close to town to all the shops and restaurants. Thank you for allowing us to stay here. We have talked about coming back again.
Our family really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Though close to town and RMNP, and our relatives, it still felt like a secluded retreat. The deck/river was the best part; having coffee and breakfast on the deck (when it wasn't raining) was wonderful. Sleeping to the sounds of the river was so soothing. There was plenty of room and we had everything we needed here. We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay here and would highly recommend it. Thank you for sharing your cabin with our family.
Seashell cottage is the best!! With it's location on the Big Thompson river, yet tucked away amongst the trees and rocks you can't get any closer to nature. We hiked up the rocks behind the cabin to begin our trip and get the feel of adventure in Colorado. Then we relaxed on the giant deck overlooking the river. The roar of the river, as it rushes down the mountain is a treat to your senses. We also enjoyed watching the little birds busy all though the day as they had made there nest in the tree just beyond the deck. We even had a sighting of a hummingbird. My five year old enjoyed "rock climbing" on the big rock that is right inside the master bedroom. In the spirit of Frank Loyd Wright this vintage cabin was built right on to the mountain, and one of the mountain rocks extends right into the cabin for a little natural appeal. The bed in the master bedroom was ultra comfortable and we also enjoyed the little electric fireplace. While it is true you will want to go and take an adventure while in Colorado it is hard to pull yourself away from the nature right here at seashell cottage. My teen's enjoyed having a large flat screen T.V. in each bedroom, but usually we all watched together right in the living room on the large comfy couch. It was fantastic to pull us all together like that just as my teens are starting to separate more from the family. It was really special to open up the large windows and let the sound of the river thundering fill the cabin while we played games together.
Seashell cottage has everything we needed. Everything you need to prepare and eat meals, and there was even coffee, hot, chocolate, bottled water and really nice hand and dish soap.
Seashell cottage helped my family to create memories that we will cherish for a life-time. This is quite possibly my favorite place I have ever stayed!
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place- to wake up to the roar of the river, and to be so close to the Rocky Mountain Park. We hiked bear lake and wild basin. ( to the ouzel falls- AMAZING) and to Lump Ridge - two-owls- Gem lake- to be able to sit on the deck with a warm cup of coffee and watch the wild life. We were looking to celebrate my 50th. This was it !!. Best wishes for continued success and many lucky guests !!
We loved the location - close to downtown but not busy at all - - Roaring river, beautiful bird watching. The bed was nearly the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept in! All we needed was right there for our enjoyment. While the weather was cool - we couldn't pass up having a nice warm cup of coffee on the amazing deck! Can only imagine it in warmer weather. Thank you so much - - we will be back!
Perfect getaway for us. We choose to stay in and enjoy making dinner on the grill, play cards and music. You had all the necessary items for our stay. It was very comfortable and charming.
Thanks so much.
This week has been a wonderful and beautiful vacation for my husband and I. Your cabin is wonderful. We spent many evenings on your deck, talking and re-living our days adventure.
Thank you so much !!
I am sitting on the deck having my morning "tea" and enjoying waking up with the birds & the sounds of the Big Thompson River!! We have really enjoyed our stay! We have spent a lot of time on the deck finishing the day with our "sundowners" and cooking on the grill. We appreciated the "Tips" from the owners for dinning out. Enjoyed the trout @ the Sundeck Restaurant and yesterday we drove to Allenspark and enjoyed lunch @ the Fawn Brook Inn. We visited with a lady, who was also there, and is the great niece of the original owners. My husband was able to do some fishing right around the cabin area. Eddy, @ Estes Mountain shop, was very helpful as to what was "biting" in the area and which flys to use. I was able to do quite a bit of shopping. I parked my car at the Visitors center and took the free trolley downtown. I walked back along the river walk. The next trip I parked my car there again but this time I walked down and back. On the last day we did a little more exploring and visited the Stanley Hotel. We had been there years before but this time we took the "official" tour (it was scheduled for 90 min.) our guide, Shawn, took 2hrs. and it was well worth the time. We dined on the patio of the Cascade Restaurant. Our table was by the water fall and we enjoyed our meal. My husband got in one last day of fishing and of course, we spent our final evening on the deck we have enjoyed so much. We thank the owners for all their help and patience assisting us with our trip to Colorado. We appreciate all the "extras" they provided.
Our family of four stayed 11 nights at the Seashell River Cabin.
The location is perfect for visits to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park. The place is well-maintained. Upon our visit we noticed a new couch was in the living area. It easily pulled out to make a large firm comfortable sleeping space.
After booking, I realized that the cabin did not have A/C. However, it was not needed. In the middle of June, the cabin stayed cool and very comfortable. It cooled off a lot at night and we needed all the blankets.
The parking is a little tricky. We had a large SUV and it took care getting in and out of the parking spot. The owners have placed reflector spikes to make it a little easier to guide into the spot. The driveway/road of this cabin is also a little difficult to guide a large SUV through, but not too bad if careful. The cabin is surrounded by a few others, so not secluded. However, it felt very private.
Overall a very good value. Cabin was clean and extremely convenient as a location to explore Rocky Mountain Nat Park. We fly fished area for 5 days and were very comfortable staying at the Sea Shell Cabin
My family and I stayed at this location and really enjoyed the stay. We had a few minor glitches but overall the stay was pleasant and the views were terrific. We had everything in the cabin that we needed and even a few things we didn't expect, like paper plates and plastic forks and knives. We also even had several spices and other condiments. The Weber propane grill on the deck really came in handy and it cooked wonderfully. I might suggest to the owners that thy put a cover on the grill to keep it from rusting. I would also recommend that the owners store linen and a blanket for the futon in the living room. I would recommend this cabin to anyone staying in the Estes Park area. It is just far away from all the hustle in town but only a short drive to get there.
Thanks so much for everything ! We enjoyed our stay here- so cozy and nice in here being right next to the river- so nice to sleep to the that sound ! Playing in the river was a lot of fun, and staying in and watching the movies during the thunderstorms was so vibey !
Thanks again
Thank you for letting my family rent your cabin. My girls loved trying to catch the little chipmunk that lives in the rock by the picnic tables. Since we are from TEXAS we enjoyed playing in the river !, Yes it is cold but it did not stop my family from playing in it. The cabin is also in a nice location to all of Estes park and (RMNP) Rocky Mountain National Park activities. We are sad that our trip is over and hope to return in the future. We wish we would have seen the bears that everyone has seen !
We were there in this cabin for a week. Enjoyed every minute. The highlight was our morning coffee and later our breakfast on the deck. The candies and flowers by the owners made the stay even more special. Thank you !!
The owners were always available if needed and were great to deal with. The cabin was very clean, quiet, and comfortable, with lots of nice touches. We loved having early morning coffee and breakfast on the deck overlooking the river. And we liked being very close to but yet outside of Estes Park. We certainly would rent this cabin again. Our only cautionary comment is that the tub/shower may not be suitable for the elderly, at least not as a shower. While the tub is quite attractive and the owners provide some wonderful hair care products, using the tub requires extra care to minimize the risk of a fall. However, this should not be a major concern for most people and we highly recommend the cabin.
The cabin is beyond expectations given the rates we got from the owners.
The cabin was excellent and beyond our expectations. We intend to come back !!
My Husband and I had a great time staying at this cabin, it is close to town but private and close to nature.
My favorite part was sitting on the deck with my morning cup of coffee watching the sunrise and the animals and birds come out. We used the grill for our meals in even breakfast because it was so nice out there. Would recommend this cabin again (I already did to my Doctor). Our stay was an anniversary getaway.
We were pleased to find the riverview cottage very clean, non smoking, and located a few yards from the Big Thompson River. We were looking for a place for the whole family where we could just do nothing. With the big deck and short distance to town, hiking trails, and site seeing, we found it in this rental. The wife and kids relaxed with books while I spent my mornings and evenings fly fishing. Although the river was EXTREMELY high and fast, with very limited riverfront property boundaries, I was able to catch 20 very nice sized assorted browns and rainbows under the bridge. The smell of pine and the sound of the river put me in a peaceful slumber the 5 nights we were there. We appreciated the personal touches of welcome, such as the pretty flowers and complementary chocolates.
Thank you Janet!!
My husband and I had a fabulous time at your cabin. We celebrated his 40th b-day as well as our 10 year anniversary. We rode our bikes around Lake Estes, hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park and had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant, The Other Side. The cabin was exactly as described and Janet has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The bear on our porch on Saturday morning was an added bonus as well! I would definitely stay here again!
If you are looking for a peaceful retreat from busy Estes Park, this is the place. The cabin is only a couple of miles outside of town, so you can still have easy access to all the shopping and activities but still have peace and quiet as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of the river and birds and the ability to cook out rather than eat out! The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and overall, we had a great experience. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate our every need. We highly recommend Roaring River Cottage!
We loved our stay at the Roaring River Cabin. The boys loved climbing over the rocks and we loved hearing the sounds of the river right nearby. It was close enough to Estes Park to be able to see the sights there and to go on some day hikes to RMNP. The cabin was so charming and it provided us with such a wonderful time on our vacation. The owners were very friendly and helpful too.
Loved this cabin. It had everything we could have needed for a home away from home. We had a great time, loved the close location to town, but still very secluded and peaceful. My husband caught a few fish in the river, while I sat on the deck and read. We loved watching all the birds and hummingbirds and enjoyed the little ground squirrels. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cabin to our friends and the owners were great to work with. We hope to come back again sometime. Thank you for sharing your cabin/cottage, so others can enjoy it!
This is a wonderful cabin to get away from it all and yet be minutes away from downtown and golf courses. The river is great and I really enjoyed my morning qigong and meditation along the banks. We had a great time and would love to come back.
We stayed 4 nights in August, 2009 in this comfortable cottage by the Big Thompson River. The large deck is a great place to relax and it was wonderful to fall asleep each night to the sound of rushing water. The cabin was close enough to Estes Park for convenience, but far enough away to give us a secluded feeling. The beds were very comfortable - something we haven't always found in a vacation rental.
Great cabin in a wonderful location with the river steps away. Beautiful decor throughout and minutes to Estes Park. Loved all the birds near the cabin. Owners were superb to work with. Thanks again for a great place to stay!
I felt that this was a great place to get away from it all. Quite setting off the road - the river is right there for you....especially if you like fly fishing; or, if you just want to relax. I also like the fact that central Estes Park was only 5 minutes up the road. It was the best of both worlds.
Our first visit to RMNP will be memorable in part due to this comfortably situated property in striking distance to Estes Park and RMNP's Bear Lake, Longs Peak, and Wild Basin regions. We were able to cook up simple breakfasts before heading out for a days worth of hiking and was a welcome retreat for evenings on the deck sitting riverside, relaxing, and enjoying beverages while recapping the spectacular RMNP experiences of the day. This simple, quaint, and rustic property was EXACTLY what we were looking for! Thank you Seashell for being part of such a memorable vacation :)
Very good base for exploring the RMNP and the entire environment! Old cabin from the 20s, furnished in retro style with old pictures etc. New mattresses. Very well maintained and clean. Extremely helpful owner. Terrace overlooking the river. We saw a roebuck. Many birds, including Hummingbirds. The cabin is located about 3 km before Estes Park its small cul-de-sac off Highway 34 (Loveland to Estes Park). You can see and hear the road, but did not bother us despite previous reservations. The river is louder! It was nice to come back to the cabin after the excursion and not stay in a busy motel.
